Organisation
Football worldwide is organised along simple and yet efficient structures. The FIFA Congress, responsible for legislative matters, is the supreme body whose decisions are then implemented at global, continental, national and local level.
Whereas FIFA and its standing committees govern the game on a global scale, the six confederations and the national associations provide similar structures at continental and national level to form a virtual pyramid of football with the grass-roots movement providing the strong base without which top-flight action would not be possible.
Each of these bodies has its own statutes and regulations and hosts its own competitions but always in accordance with the FIFA Statutes.
